Issue #2
Playlist
Hope this latest issue finds you all well! I’m super excited to be putting this second issue together and to be falling into somewhat of a routine with it. The Postcard for this week is coming from Villefranche-sur-Mer and the French Riviera.
Shelter Boy is a new artist for me this week. “Atmosphere” has one of the catchier hooks I’ve heard in a bit which led to me to going through the German artist’s catalog. If you love whimsical, tropical dream pop, their track “Half Asleep” is probably meant for you (so is another related, Saharan Gazelle Boy). It sounds like it would be right at home in a Californication episode.
Country is typically a seasonal wave I ride through the early summer and fall. Hailey Whitters is an artist I continue to be excited about and is keeping me listening to the genre year round. Her 2020 release, The Dream, emerged out of a low point after reaching 10 years of grinding in Nashville with little to show for it. Whitters took a step back at this point and distanced herself from her former ambitions of fitting the Nashville mold and just let things flow. This ultimately resulted in the The Dream and one of my favorite start to end listens of last year.
That’s all for this week, enjoy the tracks.
