Issue #28

Welcome to issue #28 of Sonic Postcards!

Easily topping the list this week is “Another Sketch” from Lil Silva. It’s a delicate arrangement of synths and strings strongly reminscient of a Rhye or Bonobo track with delicate vocals layered on top. I haven’t given it a listen yet, but the track comes off of Lil Silva’s first solo full length titled, Yesterday is Heavy.

Coming in as my second favorite track for the week, “Do You” from “Ghost Woman” casts a strong sense of being from another place and time. I re-watched Once Upon a Time in Hollywood again last week. Despite my extreme dislike for California, something about the way the state is portrayed in movies and TV always draws me in. I too easily get caught up in movies like Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and TV shows like Entourage and Californication. “Do You” could easily feature in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and have me thinking it was released during the late 1960s.
