A playlist of 39 tracks that meant the most to me in 2023
Looking for new music? Love art? Every week I create a short, five track playlist of the songs I am feeling at the moment along with a beautiful, found postcard. It’s a spark of joy for your eyes and ears.
The tracks I listen to each week easily attach themselves to my memories for a given week, creating a mini soundtrack and memory montage that is easy to tap back into. I recently flipped through all the playlists for 2023 and decided to pull out the tracks that meant the most to me and post them here in a bonus issue.
Some tracks were released in 2023, some weren’t. Some I just loved the sound of. Others were meaningful on a deeper, personal level due to lyrics, backstory, etc.
This is a variation of the year end Best of Lists that only capture a small snapshot in time and ending up looking largely the same across all the sites that post them. Music is personal so why not make a list of tracks that had the biggest impact on me instead of some universal “best” list. The result is more journal entry than listicle.
