The sleep is minimal, but the tunes are rolling post arrival of kiddo #2. One of the surprising shifts of welcoming our second is how many memories from my childhood have started to flow back to me on the daily.
I do not know if it is because I am taking our oldest to school everyday or if it is because the fall out here in Oregon is the closest thing to fall in the midwest I have felt in a long while. In any case, it has been fun having these memories surface - things like waiting in line before school on cold October mornings with friends to buy “Boo Pops” (some of the best damn candy you will find anywhere). I’ve been enjoying how these old memories layer in with the new ones we are making as family now.
With being back on the schedule of being up for extended stretches during the night for feeds, I have gotten back into a steady habit of podcasts and reading. Some of my favorites over the past few weeks have been:
Valley Heat podcast (have not laughed these hard in a while)
The Fifth Season (one of the better sci-fi series I have read)
Chef’s Table: Noodles, Episode 1 - Evan Funke - (pasta in all its glory)
Happy listening.
Best,
Ben
