Welcome to Issue #58 of Sonic Postcards!

I hopped back on Soundcloud this week and found myself scrolling through my feed there for the first time in years. It was a beautifully chaotic and refreshing experience.

Outside of seeing a lot more variety of tracks in my feed than I would get on Spotify, the aha moment was just how many hour long mixes showed up. I had completely forgotten about how magical the mix format can be for discovering music. There’s something special about the mystery of diving into an hour long mix with no track list, unsure what you are about to hear.

This is how I found myself listening to a chopped and screwed version of PARTYNEXTDOOR’s album PARTYMOBILE. There is no way in hell this would have landed on my docket through Spotify. Here’s to mixes and a refreshing throwback to ways to find new music. Happy listening.
