Issue #94
Featuring tracks from Waxahatchee, MJ Lenderman, Day Wave, Sigma, Crystal Fighters, Ethan Tasch, and Pinegrove
Looking for new music? Love art? Every week I create a short, five track playlist of the songs I am feeling at the moment along with a beautiful, found postcard. It’s a spark of joy for your eyes and ears.
If someone put me on the spot and made me pick my favorite band of all time, I would probably answer Pinegrove. They have remained a durable favorite that I pull renewed meaning from each year.
I spent a lot of time listening to their live album, Montclair (Live at the Wellmont Theater) this week. We have been fortunate enough to see them live twice and they knocked the socks off both times. What shines through most in their shows is authenticity - they want everyone to go home with a deeply meaningful experience. The final three tracks of the album capture the experience well. Accordingly, this week’s playlist closes out with these three tracks.
In terms on newer music, I have been playing “As You Are” from Day Wave a TON this week. If you are loving it too, check our Beach Fossils who were featured on Issue 64 and Issue 59.
